Fidelity Warranty Services, not to be confused with the more well-known Fidelity Investments, sells various vehicle protection plans and services. According to its website, it paid out over 2.2 million claims totaling over $930 million in 2024.

Unlike most other extended warranty companies, Fidelity is only sold through dealerships, so there is no direct-to-consumer option. This makes it somewhat more likely that customers may feel pressured by car salesmen to purchase a warranty when they’re shopping for their vehicle, so it’s important to do your research and feel confident about whether or not you want to get one.

I’ve put together this in-depth review of Fidelity as a senior editor and analyst at AutoInsurance.com to walk you through what you need to know about the company and if it might be a good fit for you.

Who Should Buy Fidelity?

In general, extended warranties may be a good option for drivers who plan to keep their car for a very long time, as this coverage kicks in after the original factory warranty expires. If you’re the type of person who frequently trades in or upgrades vehicles, an extended warranty probably isn’t for you.

Extended warranties tend to cost a lot up front, and most people would be better off planning for future repairs and saving accordingly. However, a vehicle service contract can be helpful if you don’t want to worry about being able to afford repairs and prefer the predictability of the warranty payments.

In particular, Fidelity is a good choice for those who prefer to purchase from a dealership and the ease of knowing you can simply take your car to that dealer when it needs repairs. For some drivers, this may be an inconvenience, but for others, it may be an advantage. Since Fidelity offers plans for high-mileage vehicles, it’s also ideal for owners of older vehicles with a lot of miles.

Fidelity Eligibility Requirements

Fidelity doesn’t explicitly state eligibility requirements on its website, and there is no online quote tool, so I wasn’t able to get an idea of what vehicle model years and mileage options it allows for when requesting a quote. Its standard plans have a coverage limit of 150,000 miles, but it doesn’t specify what your car’s current age or mileage must be to qualify for that coverage.

Fidelity does offer vehicle service contracts specifically for vehicles with higher mileage, so it likely has a higher limit than some competitors, though you can expect these plans to cost more than those for newer vehicles.

To find out whether your car is eligible for a Fidelity extended warranty, reach out to one of its partner dealerships.

How Much Does Fidelity Cost?

Pricing data for Fidelity extended warranties is not available, but the average warranty across the industry costs around $1,000 to $3,000 per year.

Similar to car insurance, many factors will affect the price you pay for a vehicle service contract. These include the age of your vehicle, the make and model, the mileage, your coverage level, your chosen deductible amount, and more.

Fidelity doesn’t advertise any discounts, but a partner dealership will be able to walk you through any discounts or promotions that are being offered and that you might qualify for.

FYI:

Most extended warranty companies offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, allowing you to get a full refund if you cancel your policy within that timeframe. Fidelity does not advertise this feature, so be sure to ask about it when you get a quote to make sure you’re making an informed decision.

Cancellation Fee

Fidelity offers two ways to cancel your policy: either by contacting the dealership you purchased it from or by requesting cancellation through their website. It doesn’t mention a fee or a partial refund, but I assume you’d receive a pro-rated refund if it works like most other vehicle service contract providers. Again, I recommend double-checking and reading the fine print before you sign up to make sure you don’t get any surprise charges.

Fidelity Quote and Purchase Process

Fidelity extended warranties are sold exclusively through dealerships that partner with the company, so I wasn’t able to start the quote process online. If you’re interested in the company’s offerings, ask your dealer if they sell Fidelity products. Or, you can call (800) 327-5172 to find a local dealer that partners with them. Fidelity states that over 3,000 dealerships nationwide sell its vehicle service plans.

What Types of Coverage Does Fidelity Offer?

Fidelity offers a total of five coverage plans, including two specifically for high-mileage vehicles. All of its plans include 24/7 roadside assistance, travel protection, and alternate transportation coverage.

Here is a detailed breakdown (no pun intended) of what each plan includes:

Powertrain Coverage

This is Fidelity’s most basic coverage plan and includes the following:

  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Drive Axle
  • Hybrid/Electric Components

Gold Coverage

This includes everything in Powertrain Coverage, plus the following:

  • Steering
  • Cooling
  • Air Conditioning
  • Front/Rear Suspension
  • Electrical

Platinum Coverage

This includes everything in Gold Coverage, plus the following:

  • Steering
  • Cooling
  • Air Conditioning
  • Front/Rear Suspension
  • Electrical
  • Brakes
  • Fuel System
  • Power/Data Ports
  • Navigation
  • Advanced Driver Assistance
  • Audio/Entertainment Systems

Drivetrain Plus Coverage

This is one of Fidelity’s high-mileage plans, which is similar to the Powertrain plan and covers the following:

  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Drive Axle
  • Hybrid/Plug-In Electric Components

Owner Select Coverage

This includes everything in Drivetrain Plus Coverage, plus the following:

  • Steering
  • Brakes
  • Air Conditioning
  • Additional Hybrid/Plug-in Electric Components

In addition to these vehicle service contracts, Fidelity offers the following products that you may be interested in as well:

  • Term Care Select: This plan provides mechanical breakdown coverage that can help cover repairs that may not be included in your manufacturer’s warranty, such as brake pads, batteries, and windshield wipers.
  • Road Hazard Tire & Wheel Protection: This coverage pays for the repair or replacement of tires and wheels if they’re damaged due to covered road hazards. It also has a Road Hazard Tire & Wheel bundle, which also includes coverage for damage to your windshields and your vehicle’s exterior and interior surfaces.
  • Prepaid Maintenance: This plan allows you to pay for routine maintenance services up front, so you don’t need to worry about repair costs as they come up or price increases.
  • Total loss (GAP) coverage: If your car is totaled in a covered accident, Fidelity’s gap coverage helps pay for the difference between the actual cash value of your new car and the remaining loan amount.
  • Excess wear and tear: Provides up to $7,500 for repairs of wear and tear to covered parts of a leased vehicle, including dents and scratches, at the end of your lease.
  • Theft deterrent system: Fidelity provides the installation of a theft deterrent system, which includes permanent, tamper-resistant vehicle ID etching. The ID is registered in a national database and both helps law enforcement identify your car if it’s stolen and deters thieves.
  • Appearance Protection: Protects your car’s appearance with services including ceramic-based exterior protection, UV and oxidation resistance, hard-water etching and stain protection, and interior spill and stain guard.

Fidelity: Customer Service

Fidelity customer support can be reached at 1-800-327-5172, but for most issues, it will be better to contact the dealership you purchased the warranty from.

Third-Party Reviews

Fidelity Warranty is accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and has an A+ rating, which reflects very well on the company. Its customer reviews on the BBB site are low, however, at 1.09.1 That said, I think it’s worth noting that this is only based on 45 reviews, which is a pretty small sample size. I also noticed that Fidelity individually responded to every negative review, stating that they had reached out to the customer.

Looking at Trustpilot, the company has an average rating of 3.3 stars, but it’s only based on two reviews.2 One review, which was initially three stars, mentions an update that Fidelity eventually helped them resolve their issue.

Filing a Claim With Fidelity

To file a claim with Fidelity, you simply need to take your car to the dealer you purchased the warranty from. The dealer will then deal with Fidelity directly to get the claim approved, and you’ll just need to pay the deductible on your policy. The rest of the payment will be made directly to the dealer to make the repairs. You won’t need to fill out any paperwork or wait for reimbursement.

If you can’t bring your car to your dealer, you should follow the instructions on your service contract, which entails calling the number listed there so that a claims analyst can help you.

Fidelity's Website and Mobile App

Fidelity’s website is straightforward and user-friendly, providing ample information on the different coverage options available. It doesn’t have information on how to get a quote or a way to file a claim, which is typical of other warranty companies, since it’s not sold direct-to-consumer.

However, it does include a link to the RoadReady Hub, which it partners with to allow customers to manage all of their warranty information. You can easily make an account by going to the RoadReady Hub website.

Fidelity Warranty doesn’t have a mobile app, so the online platform is the best way to manage your policy if you prefer to do so digitally.

Methodology

We review vehicle service contracts according to the following factors:

  • Vehicle Eligibility: We take into account the types of vehicles that are eligible for coverage, including vehicle mileage, model, make, year, and condition.
  • Buying Process and Claims: We assess the customer experience, which includes getting a quote, finalizing a contract, and everything in between.
  • Pricing: Pricing data for extended warranties is not readily available for individual companies, so we analyze data on average industry costs.
  • Third-Party Ratings on Customer Service: We look at customer reviews on trusted third-party review platforms, including Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau, to get an idea of each company’s customer service experience.
  • Mobile App: We review companies’ Google Play or Apple apps, when applicable, for user experience and services offered.
  • Extras: We collect data on any available discounts and perks and factor it into our review.
